NWS Memphis shares Corinth forecast, Tupelo SKYWARN class, drought outlook

Corinth forecast turns cooler after a cold front

The National Weather Service Memphis Tennessee said an approaching cold front will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms for the upcoming weekend, followed by cooler and more seasonable temperatures next week. The update points to a brief shift away from the recent warmth as October begins.

Its graphic showed Corinth minimum temperatures at 65 Thursday, 67 Friday, 63 Saturday, 58 Sunday, 53 Monday and Tuesday, and 55 Wednesday. The same graphic said lows early next week should drop into the upper 40s and 50s, with highs in the 70s to lower 80s.

The National Weather Service Memphis Tennessee says its next in-person SKYWARN storm spotter training will be held Oct. 6 in Tupelo at the Lee County Board of Supervisors Building, 300 West Main St. The free class is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. and is expected to last about 1.5 to 2 hours, with registration information at weather.gov/meg/skywarn.

Drought stays severe as rain chances rise this weekend

The National Weather Service in Memphis says drought conditions have worsened across the Mid-South, with portions of northeast Arkansas and West Tennessee still in extreme drought and most other areas in severe or moderate drought. The office says a cold front tomorrow should increase shower and thunderstorm chances across the entire area through the weekend.

The graphic says rainfall tomorrow and into the weekend should help ease drought conditions slightly. It was updated Oct. 1 at 2:37 p.m. and says soils, waterways and plants need the moisture.
