Alcorn County Officials Issue Burn Ban

A burn ban has been issued for Alcorn County.

According to the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the ban was initially issued on Monday, March 3rd. The burn ban has been issued due to exceptionally dry conditions in the area.

The ban is expected to end on March 17th.

While the ban is set in place, no outdoor burning of any kind is allowed. More specifically, anything with an open flame that produces an ember is prohibited.

Any individual who is discovered to be acting in violation of the burn ban will face fines between $100 and $500.
