CORINTH — The Polk Street Bridge has reopened to the public, with the city dedicating the crossing in memory of Conner Dabbs, according to Alcorn County News coverage published Sept. 15. Corinth remembers Abe Whitfield

Abe Whitfield, who opened Abe’s Grill with his wife, Terri, in 1974, died Sept. 12 at Magnolia Regional Health Center after a brief illness. He was 77. In a remembrance published Sept. 15, Jon R Myers described Whitfield’s decades in the Corinth restaurant business and his generosity toward customers and travelers in need of a meal.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Oakland Baptist Church, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Magnolia Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Oakland Baptist Church, First Baptist Church-Corinth or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Read the full remembrance and service information.
