Felony drug arrest in Corinth 2-8-23
**Felony Drug Arrest**
Suspect: BRANDON LASARIS WOODARD (38 YRS)
Charge:
•FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (Marijuana)
•FELONY POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (Adderall pills Schedule II)
•DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
•OPEN CONTAINER IN A MOTOR VEHICLE
•NUMEROUS TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS
On Friday, 03 February at approximately 11:44 p.m., Officer Oglesby and Officer Whitten were patrolling on Buchannan Street when they spotted a vehicle that appeared to speed away and make a sudden turn on to a side street as if it were attempting to elude the police. Officers closed the gap on the vehicle to further observe its behavior and observed that the vehicle tag was obstructed. Officers initiated a traffic stop to further investigate the situation.
Officer Oglesby made contact with the driver, Brandon Woodard, and detected the odor of marijuana. Mr. Woodard was then directed to exit the vehicle to further the interview. Mr. Woodard stated that he had been drinking a little and had smoked marijuana a short time before the traffic stop. Mr. Woodard further gave consent for a search of his vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an open container of alcohol, three bags of marijuana totaling 116 grams, two pill bottles containing a combined 35 Adderall pills, and two packages of marijuana edible gummies.
Mr. Woodard was placed under arrest and then transported to the Alcorn County Jail where he was booked in for Driving Under the Influence, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Numerous Traffic Infractions, and he was later charged for Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Marijuana) and Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (Schedule II Adderall). The narcotics were processed into evidence and will be transported to the State Crime Lab for confirmation testing.
The felony drug charge will be presented to an Alcorn County Grand Jury and the misdemeanor charges will be handled in Corinth Municipal Court.
