Corinth Christmas Basket Fund Taking Applications Now

The Corinth Christmas Basket Fund is back for another holiday season, with plans to hand out 1,000 food baskets to families in need on Saturday, Dec. 19. Applications are being accepted now, and the deadline is 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27.

About the Corinth Christmas Basket Fund

The yearly program is a partnership between the Corinth Rotary Club and the Daily Corinthian. It relies on donations from local residents, businesses and organizations to buy the food for the baskets. According to the newspaper, organizers have set a fundraising goal of $23,500 this year.

Cameron Crockett of the Corinth Rotary Club said volunteers are hoping for a stronger turnout than last year, when other food giveaways were scheduled around the same time. “Just giving a small little box of food makes a big impact on their lives and their day,” Crockett said.

How to Apply

  • Where to get an application: Applications run in the Daily Corinthian and are available at the newspaper office, 1607 South Harper Road in Corinth.
  • Office hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Deadline: 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27
  • Notification: Approved families will be contacted by phone.
  • Distribution: Dec. 19

Applicants should fill out the form completely and return it before the deadline. Late applications may not be considered, because organizers need time to review each request, buy food and pack 1,000 baskets before distribution day. Questions about eligibility or the application can be directed to the Daily Corinthian office during business hours.

How to Donate

Donations can be dropped off at the newspaper office or mailed to:

Daily Corinthian
Attn.: Christmas Basket Fund
1607 South Harper Road
Corinth, MS 38834

Gifts can be made in honor of or in memory of a loved one, friend, co-worker, volunteer or community leader. Donors should include that person’s name with the gift. All donations and tributes are recognized in the newspaper.

Gifts of any size help the fund reach its goal. Churches, civic clubs, classrooms and workplaces often make the basket fund a group project during November and December, pooling small contributions into one larger donation. With the deadline for applications in late November and distribution set for mid-December, donations made early in the season help organizers plan how much food to order.
