Man Sentenced to 60 Years for 2021 Mississippi Shooting

TAQUON GARTH SENTENCED TO 60 YEARS

Tupelo, Miss. — May 1, 2026 — Taquon Garth pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter related to a July 24, 2021, shooting that left three people dead, according to court documents.

Judge Kelly Mims sentenced Garth to the maximum of 20 years for each count. The sentences will run consecutively, totaling 60 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the court announced.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Josh Wise, on behalf of the state. Authorities credited the Tupelo Police Department and Detective Tyler Cook for their investigative work.

The victims, Jessica Pannell, Robben Wilson, and Norahs Coleman, were all killed in the incident. The families of the victims expressed gratitude for the resolution and have been enduring significant pain throughout the legal process, according to the court.

Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, also acknowledged the families’ resilience and ongoing support during the case.
