Mississippi Disaster Centers Open for Winter Storm Fern Victims

Disaster Service Centers opened Tuesday in multiple Mississippi counties to assist residents affected by Winter Storm Fern. The centers will be open through June 10, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Centers are located in Alcorn, Benton, Carroll, Coahoma, Lafayette, Leflore, Marshall, Montgomery, Panola, Pontotoc, Tallahatchie, Tishomingo, and Yazoo counties. They will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The centers will be closed on Sundays.

The centers are available for residents to apply for federal assistance or to get answers to questions. The application deadline is June 10. Officials note that receiving these benefits will not affect Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits.
