Mississippi residents urged to apply for winter storm assistance before deadline
Mississippi emergency officials are reminding residents in affected counties that they have three days remaining to apply for disaster assistance related to winter storms that occurred from Jan. 23 to Jan. 27.
Applicants can submit requests online, by phone, through the FEMA app, or in person at Disaster Service Centers located in several counties. Centers are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Counties with service centers include Alcorn, Lafayette, Panola, Leflore, Benton, Yazoo, Carroll, Coahoma, Montgomery, Tallahatchie, Pontotoc, Marshall, and Tishomingo, according to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
Residents are encouraged to act quickly to ensure their needs are addressed before the application deadline.
