Alcorn County Football Scores, Sept. 11, 2026: Kossuth Stuns Tishomingo County, Corinth Edges Houston
KOSSUTH, Miss. — Tishomingo County came into Friday night one win away from a clean sweep of Alcorn County. Kossuth, winless and ranked 194th out of 225 teams in the state, had other plans.
The Aggies beat the Braves 31-13 at home, the biggest upset in Alcorn County football on Sept. 11, 2026, and the centerpiece of a 2-2 night for the county’s four programs.

Kossuth 31, Tishomingo County 13
Tishomingo County had already beaten Alcorn Central 27-10 on Aug. 27 and buried Biggersville 56-7 on Sept. 4. As Alcorn Sports laid out Friday morning, the Braves were one win from sweeping the county.
Kossuth stopped it, and did it in the unlikeliest way. The Aggies had scored 20 points total across two games — a 28-13 loss at Baldwyn and a 34-7 loss to Adamsville — after averaging 33.9 points per game a year ago. On Friday they scored 31.
The gap between these teams on paper was enormous. Kossuth entered the night 194th of 225 teams in the Mississippi Football Power Index. Tishomingo County entered 35th and unbeaten. Kossuth won by 18.
The Aggies are 1-2 and were the only Alcorn County team at home Friday — a detail our Friday football guide flagged before kickoff. They were also the only one to leave with a win on their own field.
Corinth 24, Houston 21
Corinth keeps winning on the road, and keeps doing it in one-possession games.
The Warriors beat Houston 24-21 to improve to 2-1, with both wins away from Corinth: 28-21 at New Hope in the opener and three points at Houston on Friday. Their only loss, 21-14 to Itawamba Agricultural, came at home.
Corinth has scored 66 points and allowed 63 this season. All three games have been decided by seven points or fewer. The Warriors are the county’s highest-ranked team in the MFPI at No. 41 statewide, and they host Pontotoc next.
North Pontotoc 42, Alcorn Central 0
A week after shutting out Falkner 41-0, Alcorn Central was on the wrong end of one, losing 42-0 at North Pontotoc.
It is a familiar result against this particular opponent — North Pontotoc beat the Golden Bears 55-0 a season ago — though Friday’s margin was 13 points narrower. Senior quarterback Ty Whitten had thrown for two scores and run for two more in that Falkner shutout a week earlier.
Central falls to 1-2 and is 76th in the MFPI. The Golden Bears host Walnut next Friday.
East Webster 21, Biggersville 0
Biggersville ran into the defending state champions and lost 21-0 at East Webster, a program that carried a 16-game winning streak into the night.
The encouraging number for the Lions: East Webster beat Biggersville 54-14 a year ago. Friday’s margin was 33 points smaller, and Biggersville held one of the state’s hottest teams to three touchdowns.
Biggersville drops to 1-2 with a second straight loss and sits 198th in the MFPI. The Lions travel to Booneville next.

The last validated MFPI run before Friday’s games, published Sept. 9, ranked Alcorn County’s four programs this way:
- No. 41 Corinth — 69.9
- No. 76 Alcorn Central — 60.5
- No. 194 Kossuth — 26.7

Kossuth should be the county’s big mover. Beating a 2-0 team ranked 159 spots higher is exactly the kind of result the index rewards, and the Aggies had the schedule strength banked from losses to Baldwyn and Adamsville.
