Alcorn County roundup, Sept. 22, 2026: Free storm-spotter class Thursday; Corinth cooldown continues
Corinth residents can take a free virtual storm-spotter class Thursday, Sept. 24, as the National Weather Service in Memphis forecasts a brief stretch of milder weather before temperatures rise again next week.
Free SKYWARN training starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday
The weather service says the online course will cover the storm-spotting process and last about 90 minutes to two hours. Registration information is available through the agency’s SKYWARN page, identified in Alcorn County News’s report on the class and Corinth forecast.
Corinth highs dip to 86 Thursday
In its Tuesday afternoon update, the weather service forecast Corinth highs of 88 degrees Wednesday, Sept. 23, and 86 Thursday, followed by 88-degree highs Friday through Sunday. The outlook calls for 91 Monday, Sept. 28, and 92 Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The agency expects temperatures near normal through Thursday, nighttime lows in the upper 50s to 60s and mainly rain-free conditions into the weekend. Its Monday night regional outlook described relief from nearly 50 days of highs at or above 90 degrees.
