Crossroads Marching Classic Returns to Corinth Saturday
Marching bands from across North Mississippi and West Tennessee will fill Warrior Stadium this weekend as the Crossroads Marching Classic returns to Corinth High School. The competition starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, with bands taking the field one after another through the afternoon and an evening awards ceremony.
Corinth High School hosts the event every year, and the Warrior Band uses it to show the community what its students have been working on, as well as to raise money for the band program.
Crossroads Marching Classic lineup
North Tippah School District is scheduled to perform first at 3 p.m. The performance order after that, as released by the host school, is:
- North Tippah
- Smithville
- Hatley
- Potts Camp
- Tishomingo County
- Alcorn Central
- Hardin County (Tenn.)
- Mooreville
- New Albany
- Corinth
Ripley High School was also listed among the participating schools.
The Northeast Mississippi Community College band will perform an exhibition show in the evening before awards are handed out. Last year’s grand champion was Saltillo High School, with New Albany High School in second place and Itawamba Agricultural High School in third.
A community showcase and fundraiser
“It’s really important for our community to see what all we’ve got going on within our school district,” said Corinth High band director Allison Hays. “We always like to let the community see what we’re doing as a group, and it also raises money for our school and for our band program.”
Hosting the contest also gives Warrior Band members a chance to lead. Hays said students spend the day guiding visiting bands’ vans to their warm-up sites and helping lead them onto the field, while band parents handle much of the behind-the-scenes work.
“We would not be able to do the competition without the help from all of our band parents,” she said.

The band thanked several supporters for helping make the event possible, including Briggs Food Service, Corinth Coca-Cola, Lauren’s Cake Shop, Surfhicks, Hillandale Golf Course, United Print Services and Staff Sgt. Kevin Bollig of the Mississippi National Guard.
Hays said the band is also happy to take part in community events. “If there’s ever a time that they want the band to be part of, they’re more than welcome to reach out to our school,” she said. Corinth High School can be reached at 662-286-1000.
