Final day to apply for winter storm disaster assistance in affected counties
Today is the deadline for residents affected by the January 23-27 winter storms to apply for disaster assistance, according to FEMA.
Applicants can submit their requests online, by phone, through the FEMA App, or at designated Disaster Service Centers located in multiple counties, including Alcorn, Lafayette, Panola, Leflore, Benton, Yazoo, Carroll, Coahoma, Montgomery, Tallahatchie, Pontotoc, Marshall, and Tishomingo.
FEMA has emphasized that receiving aid will not impact Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid benefits, ensuring assistance is accessible without affecting existing benefits.
Officials encourage eligible residents to apply before the deadline to ensure they receive support related to the winter storm damages.
