Heat Advisory Issued for Parts of Arkansas and Mississippi
The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a heat advisory for eastern Arkansas and northwest Mississippi. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time, with heat index values reaching up to 109 degrees, according to the agency.
In addition to the heat, there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms mainly along and northwest of the Mississippi River. The primary threats include damaging winds and localized heavy rainfall, the weather service said.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours, and remain alert for changing weather conditions.
