The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, has issued a heat advisory from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday for parts of east Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, northwest Mississippi, and West Tennessee.
The advisory comes as rising humidity pushes heat index values into dangerous levels, authorities warn. Residents are advised to take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Officials urge people to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seek air-conditioned environments when possible.
The agency continues to monitor weather conditions and will provide updates as necessary.
