Area Football Scores: Kossuth, Booneville, Alcorn Central Win
Three area teams won on Friday night. Kossuth, Booneville and Alcorn Central all came out on top in the Sept. 25 games, and several other Alcorn, Prentiss and Tishomingo county programs lost to out-of-state opponents. Here are the area football scores from Friday’s slate of Mississippi high school games, as reported on the statewide scoreboard.

Winners Around Alcorn and Prentiss Counties
Kossuth gave Alcorn County its biggest scoring night. The Aggies put up 35 points and beat North Pontotoc by two touchdowns.
In an all-Alcorn County game, Alcorn Central held Biggersville to a single score and won 26-8.
Booneville beat Ripley 31-21. The Blue Devils scored more than 30 points in a win over the Tippah County school.
Close Calls and Tough Nights
The closest area game of the night was Belmont’s. The Cardinals went to overtime with Red Bay, just across the Alabama line, before losing 22-20.
Tishomingo County scored 35 points in a shootout with Adamsville, Tenn., but lost 55-35. Baldwyn was shut out 56-0 by Mars Hill of Alabama, and Walnut fell 34-8 to Myrtle.
Corinth Idle, Back Home Oct. 2
Corinth did not play this week. The Warriors are 2-2 after a 28-21 win at New Hope, a 21-14 loss to Itawamba AHS, a 24-21 win at Houston and a 17-14 loss to Pontotoc, according to the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s schedule page. Corinth hosts South Pontotoc at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2. Two weeks later, on Oct. 16, the Warriors host Tishomingo County in a matchup of area schools.
