Alcorn County roundup, Oct. 7, 2026: Isaias rain threat grows; symphony opens Sunday

Corinth could receive roughly 2.5 to 3 inches of rain as the remnants of Tropical Storm Isaias move through northeast Mississippi this weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast reported Wednesday by Alcorn County News. Gusts near 35 mph are possible, while dry conditions and elevated fire danger are expected before the rain arrives.

Weekend rain follows a hot, dry stretch

The Wednesday storm report says the remnant low could cross far northeast Mississippi Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10, with rain and wind expected from early Saturday through Sunday evening, Oct. 11. Forecasters emphasized that the track and strength remain uncertain. Alcorn County’s emergency burn ban remains in effect through Oct. 12, and the weather service says fire danger could peak Friday as winds increase.

A separate Wednesday forecast puts Corinth’s highs near 89 Thursday and Friday, Oct. 8–9, before dropping to about 75 over the weekend. The Tuesday night weather watch had already flagged the developing Gulf system and heavy-rain potential; Wednesday’s storm story provides the newer local outlook.
