CORINTH — A marginal severe-thunderstorm risk across parts of north Mississippi and West Tennessee is the immediate concern in Monday’s local weather coverage, as a cold front begins to ease the prolonged heat. The National Weather Service in Memphis identified damaging wind gusts as the main threat, with cooler days forecast for Corinth later this week.
Storm risk extends into Monday evening
In the forecast reported by Alcorn County News on Sept. 21, the weather service outlined a 1–7 p.m. storm window for portions of north Mississippi and West Tennessee near the Tennessee River. Storms were expected to move west to east, with gusts up to 60 mph possible. The agency said it did not expect severe hail or tornadoes.
